About Vigilis

Compliance clarity, without the guesswork

Vigilis helps growing businesses find out exactly where they stand under the EU AI Act ( and what to do about it) without paying retainer rates for routine, well-defined questions.

Our mission

Most businesses facing the EU AI Act don’t need a lawyer to answer the first questions, does this apply to us, what role are we in, how risky is this system. They need those answers to be correct, traceable, and affordable. Vigilis exists to give you a precise read on your compliance position: what applies, where the gaps are, and the practical, rule-traced steps that close them. We are not a substitute for legal counsel, and we don’t try to be one, we’re built so that when you do need a lawyer for a contested or novel question, you bring them clear, evidence-based answers about your actual posture, not a blank page.

Why the EU AI Act, and why now

The AI Act reaches far beyond the companies building AI. It applies to any business using AI tools (recruitment screening, credit scoring, chatbots, biometric systems) often at obligations written for large enterprises but landing just as hard on a 20-person company with no legal department and no budget for a retainer. It is the newest and least understood obligation most businesses now face, and the deadlines are already phasing in. That gap is what we built Vigilis to close.

Your options today

A company that needs an initial read has three routes, each with a real shortcoming for routine, high-volume screening questions.

Fast & cheap

Generic AI chatbots

Invent obligations, miscite articles, and give different answers to the same question asked twice, unacceptable when the output informs a real regulatory decision.

Free but static

DIY checklists & PDFs

Don't adapt to your specific systems, don't classify your actual risk tier, and don't produce anything an auditor would accept as evidence.

Essential, but

Hourly legal counsel

Indispensable for contested questions, but slow and costly for routine screening: does this apply, what tier is this system, which obligations attach.

Where Vigilis fits

The routine, well-defined layer (applicability, role, risk tier, and the obligations that follow) answered with the reproducibility of software and the traceability an auditor expects, at a self-serve price. When a question turns genuinely contested, you take our evidence-based posture to a lawyer instead of starting from a blank page.

How Vigilis is built

Vigilis is built around a rule engine, not a language model. Four principles hold it together.

Deterministic

Every applicability determination, risk classification, and finding is computed by version-controlled code. The same inputs always produce the same outputs, no variability, no drift between two runs.

Rule-traced

Every finding traces back to a specific rule and the exact regulation article that requires it. Where AI is used at all, it only phrases already-computed results. It never decides your risk level or invents an obligation.

Self-serve affordable

Audit-grade output without hourly rates. You pay for a defined assessment and deliverables, not for time, so the price matches the question.

Deeply focused

The EU AI Act is where we started, one regulation validated one obligation at a time, rather than diligence spread thin across many. The same engine and profile carry forward as the rules evolve.

Built to grow with the rules

The EU AI Act is where we started, a deep, single-regulation focus we deliberately validate one obligation at a time. As the Act evolves and further EU regulation arrives, the same engine and the same organisation profile carry forward, so understanding your position once is a foundation, not a one-off report you file and forget.

Vigilis is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

Vigilis is a software service, not a licensed legal service provider. Every risk classification and obligation in your assessment is produced by a deterministic rule engine referencing publicly available regulation text. It is a compliance screening tool, not a substitute for a qualified lawyer. For contested legal questions, litigation risk, or decisions with significant financial or legal consequences, consult qualified legal counsel. See our full Disclaimer for details.
